Our work speaks to the complexity of this place by addressing its most immediate needs. We are currently focused on four key programs.
Pollinate HV
Resources to Support Pollinators
The Hudson Valley’s pollinators (including native bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, flies, and even bats and birds) are vital to the functioning of our natural systems. And yet, habitat loss, invasive species, and climate change are threatening many of these beloved and necessary beings.
PollinateHV is an initiative to support our pollinators by offering accessible, region-specific resources for home gardeners, farmers, landscapers, and educators.
H.E.R.E.
Helping the Hudson Valley Shape Its Own Future
The Hudson Estuary Resilience Effort (H.E.R.E.) is dedicated to building social and ecological solutions in partnership with local communities. Through three interconnected initiatives (guilds of local experts, place-based philanthropic funds, and a storytelling journal) H.E.R.E. brings together community knowledge, targeted capital, and a deep love of place to address the region's most pressing needs.
Funding Futures
Grants for Community-Led Ecological Projects
Developed to accelerate collective environmental action in Hudson Valley towns, Funding Futures offers community grants for ecological projects helmed by local residents. Each community works to come to a consensus on priorities, look for reliable funding streams, and safeguard their natural and ecological features—together.
The Wild Trust
Working to Rebalance Deer Overpopulation
New York State is experiencing an ecological crisis caused by too many white-tailed deer. Their overpopulation is disrupting forests, threatening biodiversity, and affecting human health—but there are clear, effective solutions.
The Wild Trust is an initiative aimed at restoring ecological balance between humans, deer, and nature, so that our landscapes, and all of us, can thrive.
